rising 9th graders
AP US History is now an option for 9th graders. This course IS very different than Honors US History.
Students who are interested in this course should have:
a motivation to learn
an interest in history and different perspectives
a willingness to advocate for themselves and ask questions when they need help
the ability to read a textbook independently (there is some reading homework)
a willingness to learn how to write a multi-paragraph academic paper (this skill will be practiced throughout the year)
AP and Honors classes are both weighted the same in your GPA. Students should consider their overall workload when making a decision about AP US History or Honors US History. If you have specific questions or want to figure out the right course to take, please email ReBecca Hughes, Social Studies RT, and Jennifer Rathmell, AP US History Teacher.
