School Counseling Mission
The counseling program at Matsunaga encourages all students to achieve success through a comprehensive, developmental counseling program that focuses on academic, career, health, and personal/social development. As an advocate and leader, the counselor is committed to addressing barriers and promoting positive changes through collaboration with school staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
Role of the Counselor
The school counselor's services support the academic, career, health, social, and emotional needs of students to enhance their overall well-being.
Classroom lesson topics vary based on the needs of our students.
Small Group lessons typically last 6–8 weeks during lunch or recess for a variety of purposes.
Students can be referred for short-term individual counseling by self-referral, parent, administrator or teacher. *Please note, individual counseling is provided as needed and does not require parent consent.
