Magruder High School Clubs

Have your staff sponsor submit this Google Form—your club should have a sponsor already identified. See the "Start a Club" tab for more info! 

Email the updated information to jennifer_lyons@mcpsmd.org, and copy (CC) your teacher sponsor. 

Sponsors will receive ECA-related news and messaging from Dr. Schwinn.  In the meantime, if you have any questions, please reach out to her at jennifer_lyons@mcpsmd.org. 

There are countless ways to advertise your club! Create a short Club Highlight Video or announcement for MVP (morning announcements) and have your teacher sponsor send it to MagruderAnnouncements@gmail.com (cc: Schwinn), create a poster (must be approved by Ms. Kimball), create a social media account, collaborate with other clubs, and/or contact Dr. Schwinn (jennifer_lyons@mcpsmd.org) to make an announcement on the Magruder Canvas page.

The MCPS Certificate of Student Engagement is an initiative to “recognize secondary students for commitment in participation in a wide range of MCPS Athletic and Extracurricular Activities”. Students can receive a Bronze Certificate for participation in 1-3 extracurricular/athletic activities, a Silver Certificate for participation in 4 - 6 extracurricular/athletic activities, and a Gold Certificate for participation in 7+ extracurricular/athletic activities. All clubs are supposed to keep rosters of their members, and the Extracurriculars Administrator and Assistant Principal, Dr. Bradley, will gather the info at the end of year to make sure you get your certificate! 

"MCR-SGA is dedicated to offering leadership and advocacy opportunities to all students in Montgomery County...Any student-led clubs and organizations, inside and outside of school, are eligible to apply. This grant program seeks to promote leadership, advocacy, and community involvement. All types of groups are encouraged to apply, not only political ones. If your organization fosters leadership or community involvement, please apply!...Grants will be given on a rolling basis with amounts varying on need from the organization.
