Our Mission

The mission of the Little Bennett Elementary School Media Center is to provide equitable access to materials in a variety of formats to ensure students and staff are effective users of ideas and information, can explore personal interests, and share their love of reading in an open and friendly environment. 

Our Vision

The overall vision of the media program is to provide a welcoming environment where all members of the school community can access information and materials that support the curriculum and focus on personal interests. The media center is a meeting place for professional growth and student study. In addition, the media center provides intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats; provides instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas. The media center staff works collaboratively with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students. Finally, the staff in the media center will nurture a love of reading through modeling and book talks and the pursuit of personal interests. The media center and its mission should be guided by the needs of the individual school, but should remain student-centered and be a place where all members of the school community feel welcome and know they will receive the highest quality of service. Additionally, the media center will incorporate the beliefs and standards adopted by the American Library Association.
