Bonjour! Je m’appelle Madame AlChawki. I grew up in Alexandria, Egypt and moved to the United States many years ago. I reside in Frederick with my husband and my four children. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in French language and literature from Alexandria University, Egypt. I earned my master's degree in teaching from Mount Saint Mary’s University, US. Before joining MCPS, I taught French overseas for fourteen years. I have been a GHS Trojan teacher for the past four years. I love teaching, cooking, traveling and listening to music. "I have been involved with MCPS since 2003, but it wasn't until I completed a long-term substitute position for the whole year that I realized my dream job was in front of me the whole time! I returned to my alma mater UMD (Go Terps!), to complete my M.Ed. and continue loving what I do serving the wonderful GHS community. As a proud trilingual Latina, I am passionate about culture and impart what I know while learning about my students and having fun. ¡Hola! I'm Señorita Chevalier, and I teach Spanish 3 and 5 here at GHS. This is my 7th year at GHS, and I LOVE it here: our students, staff, and community are awesome! Before coming to GHS, I taught English in Spain and taught Spanish at Kansas State University while getting my Master's degree. ¡Hola! I'm Señorita Deausen, and I teach Spanish 1 and 2. I began teaching in 2014 and eventually found a home at Gaithersburg High School in 2020! I love the community and all my students at GHS. I was born and raised in MOCO but have lived abroad in the beautiful country of Spain & have traveled to over 20 countries. Outside of teaching, my interests include hiking, basketball, tennis, exploring, dancing, scrapbooking & spending time with my family and friends.Ms. Deausen

Before joining GHS, Sra. Thornburgh taught for eight years in Southern and Northern California, followed by a year in Asheville, North Carolina. Before her teaching career, she lived in Spain, France, Costa Rica, and Mexico (with four years spent in Mexico City) for five years. While in Mexico, she taught English as a Second Language before returning to the US to pursue an MBA. After completing her degree, Sra. Thornburgh worked in the private education sector for several years but eventually realized her true calling was in the classroom. She obtained her teaching credential and began teaching in 2010. Currently, she and her husband, along with their two children, reside locally and enjoy outdoor activities. Hola! Yo, soy Sr. Weston. I am so excited to be a Gaithersburg Trojan!! I have previously taught at Roberto Clemente Middle School for the last 6 years. Before getting my Spanish teaching certification, I graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism/ Communications. As a kid, I grew up in Clarksburg and graduated high school as an MCPS product. When I am not teaching, I am always busy with something! I work for CBS Sports during the NFL Season (Baltimore Ravens and Washington Football Team), play ⚽️ soccer in an adult league on weekends, play Xbox, and love to travel. I love to visit Spain (where my dad is from), Colombia (where my wife is from), and travel in general. I also have a sweet dog named Marsha.Mr. Weston

¡Hola! Soy Ms. Carrión. I came all the way from Puerto Rico to have the pleasure of improving your Spanish skills! I've been teaching for 7 years now, and I've been around the world while teaching English and Spanish. I am very passionate when it comes to language acquisition. Fun fact: I speak 4 languages; come to my class to find out which ones! I'm a firm believer that the classroom is a safe space to make mistakes and learn from them. I will make it a priority to help you gain fluency in your target language so that you can become one of the most competent professionals out there.
