Frost music is great! There are so many different instruments you can try from orchestra to band. You don’t need to have played an instrument before. From day one you’ll improve greatly. And later in the year, you can make honors which is an extracurricular Orchestra/Band where you can meet other honor students from the county!
The Teachers are amazing and very kind. It might be scary the first few days but since it's every day you’ll get used to it.
There are also many SSL opportunities and extra learning activities such as SOAR where you can go to any of your 7-period classes for 20 minutes during the day. You should join!

Orchestra in 6th grade is absolutely amazing. Through this elective choice, I have formed so many friends, all tied together by one thing that we all love doing. Playing an instrument. Also, we have orchestra every day so that our skills are through the roof. The amazing things you could achieve by joining an orchestra. Additionally, if you don’t like the instrument you currently play or think something else would suit you better, you can switch! Don’t worry, you will catch up in no time. All thanks to our amazing teacher, Mrs. Cameron. She is the absolute best teacher at Frost. Personally, I would sign up for orchestra just to have her as my teacher. If you switch to band, there are even more instruments that you can try out. A whole new percussion section even opens up. Plus, you don’t have to worry about where to put your instrument when you work hard at your other classes. At Robert Frost, we have a storage room for all of our instruments. That way, you don’t have to worry about where to leave your instrument and you don’t have to worry about carrying it around all day. Last but not least, we have SSL hours at middle school. You have to work 75 hours. That sounds like a pain right? But luckily, when you are in orchestra or band, you have opportunities to earn SSL hours. You get to have fun and also earn SSL hours. That sounds like a win win to me. If you do decide to sign up for orchestra or band next year, the community will welcome you with open arms.

Joining band was the best choice I've ever made. You make so many new friends and it helps with school a ton. Band takes pressure off yourself and boosts your motivation and self-confidence. When I joined band it definitely took a lot of pressure off of me and I look forward to coming to class. Also all of the teachers are so nice and will help you with your work when you need it. If you feel like it's too late to join band you're wrong. This is a perfect time to join band because the teachers will catch you up.

When I was in 5th grade I was very excited for 6th grade because my brother went to Orchestra and now I wanted to go to Orchestra as well. In middle school, you can make new friends from other schools, but you can also even pick which classes you want to do. When I joined Orchestra 1 I had a great time and had tons of fun. Even people who never even touched a violin became really good. Recently I had a concert and at first, I was super nervous but when it was our turn to play in the gym, it was really fun. To be honest, Orchestra was fun and I will do it again next year.
