Mrs. Cameron has taught instrumental music for Montgomery County Public Schools since 1989. She has extensive experience teaching at both the elementary and middle school levels as she has taught in eight elementary schools and four middle schools. She is currently teaching band and orchestra at Robert Frost Middle School in Rockville, Maryland where each of her ensembles consistently earn superior ratings at both the county and state levels. She is in demand as a woodwind sectional coach for MCPS honors ensembles, PVYO, and as an adjudicator for various festivals and events. Along with coaching, Mrs. Cameron has conducting experience with elementary honors bands, flute ensembles and the Olney Community Band. Mrs. Cameron has worked with the MCPS Junior Honors Band in 1996, 1998, 2019-2022 and was the lead director in 2023 and 2024.
Mrs. Cameron co-wrote and implemented the training of the first MCPS elementary instrumental music curriculum in 2007 and has since been a writer for the middle school band and orchestra curricula. She has also enjoyed assisting new teachers as a facilitator at the New Educator’s Orientation program and mentoring student interns from local universities.
Mrs. Cameron has served as Instrumental Music Representative on the MCEA Music Collaboration Committee, as the MMEA Member at Large, and as the Middle School Representative for MBDA.
In 2020, she was honored with the Maryland Music Educator Association’s Outstanding Music teacher Award.
Outside of the school day, she has three adult children and conducts the MCYO Concert Orchestra.
