Hello Parents and Guardians!
This website serves as an online resource to help students access educational tools to use at home. As always, please feel free to contact your child's teacher with any questions or concerns. We look forward to a wonderful year together!
Ways a Parent Can Help with Reading:
1. Let your child see you reading! Have books and magazines in your home.
2. Help your child find appropriate word and reading games on the computer. This website is designed to help with that!
3. Set aside a time and place for your child to read. A comfy chair and a reading light in a quiet place is a great place to read.
4. Visit your public library regularly. Look for and read favorite books together.
5. Encourage your child to write- letters, thank you notes, emails, journals, lists, stories about their own experiences, ideas, and fictional characters.
6. Ask your child questions about what he or she is reading.
Ways a Parent Can Help with Math:
1. Practice basic math facts everyday! Support your child with their math facts in daily situations.
2. Encourage your child to explain their reasoning when solving math problems.
3. Play card and board games that involve counting or patterns.
4. Point out ways that math is part of "real" life: money, computers, cooking, measuring, adding and subtracting...
