Partnership with Nature Forward since 2021
Nature Forward's Salad Science journal provided an opportunity for my students to monitor and record the growth of their lettuce plants.
Nature Forward provided a grant to purchase low garden bins, soil, and plants that attract pollinators. Our Green Team students assembled the garden bins. The Nature Forward staff also led the Green Team students in a planting event.

Our Sustainability and Compliance Team is a small but mighty part of MCPS !
June 2025
MCPS now recycles broken crayons after I connected the Sustainability and Compliance team with The Crayon Initiative https://thecrayoninitiative.org/.
During the 2023-24 school year, Flower Hill recycled 74 pounds of broken crayons directly with The Crayon Initiative. This past school year, all of MCPS recycled broken crayons! I can't wait to hear what our total donation was this year!
Fundraiser led by our AAA Student Patrols - our students raised over $400 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Our 3rd - 5th graders preformed regular campus clean-ups throughout the school year.
Grade 4 & 5 Green Teams picked-up trash around Jessica's Pond at Whetstone Run in Gaithersburg and tested the water for salt. This is our second school year participating in the Salt Watch program and the third year picking up trash around the community pond.
