Miss Mason
At Farmland, the counseling program is here to help every student feel safe, happy, and ready to learn. As your school counselors, we work with students, teachers, and families to support social skills, emotional growth, and academic success. Whether it’s learning how to be a good friend, solving problems, or building confidence, we are here to help every child shine and grow every day!
Hi! I'm Ms. Mann, and I’ve had the joy of serving as a School Counselor at Farmland for 16 years—and I’m so excited to begin my 17th! I chose this profession because I truly believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued. School can sometimes be a tough place to navigate, and it’s my mission to support students not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Every student brings something unique and special to our community, and it’s an honor to walk alongside them as they grow, overcome challenges, and reach their fullest potential.
A little about me: I’m originally from Gaithersburg, Maryland and a proud graduate of Quince Orchard High School. I earned my B.S. in Communication from the University of Maryland, College Park, and went on to complete my M.S. in School Counseling at Johns Hopkins University.
My favorite color is blue, and I absolutely love the Disney character Stitch! My go-to treats are cheese pizza and cotton candy. I’m a big fan of local sports teams—especially the Washington Commanders, Baltimore Orioles, and Washington Nationals.
I now live in New Market, Maryland with my wonderful husband Corey and our two amazing boys, Alexander and Oliver. We also have two Poochons, Teddy and Ella, who are brother and sister. My favorite place to be is the beach—just give me sun, sand, and the ocean and I’m happy! I enjoy dancing, staying active, and most of all, making my kids laugh.
I’m truly looking forward to another incredible year at Farmland and am so excited to continue supporting this amazing community. Go Scarecrows!
Hello! I'm Miss Mason, and I’ve proudly served as the School Counselor at Farmland for the past four years. Before stepping into this role, I spent over 20 years in the classroom teaching PreK through 4th grade. As a teacher, I always prioritized building strong, trusting relationships with my students. I believe that when children feel seen, safe, and supported, they’re more willing to take risks, make mistakes, and grow into their authentic selves.
Becoming a school counselor felt like a natural next step—now I get to connect with even more students and help them develop important skills and strategies that will support their growth into confident, capable adults.
A little about me: I’m a proud Maryland native—born and raised in downtown Silver Spring and a BCC alum. My favorite color is purple, and I love good food (especially crabs, hot dogs, and fresh peaches!). I share my home with three cats—Mozart, Marianne, and Leopold—and I absolutely love to travel. The UK feels like my second home! Eeyore and Sadness (from Inside Out) are two of my favorite characters.
When it comes to sports, I cheer for all the local teams: the Commanders, Wizards, Capitals, Nationals, and Orioles. In my free time, I enjoy singing, playing the violin and piano, sewing, playing volleyball, diving into a good realistic fiction book, and solving puzzles like logic games and sudoku.
I’m so grateful to be part of the Farmland Scarecrow family and truly love being part of this incredible community!

The Minority Scholars Program (MSP) is a county-wide program for Black and Brown students in Montgomery County Public Schools. There are programs in all High Schools, most Middle Schools, and about 15 Elementary Schools. At Farmland, MSP is for Black and Hispanic students in grades 3 - 5. They meet during lunch and recess. They discuss and work to help elevate student voice, improve academic achievement, build cultural awareness, enhance a sense of belonging for minority students, develop leaders, and raise social consciousness.
No Place For Hate is an initiative part of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) that provides schools with the tools and resources to help create and maintain an inclusive school community. There are currently 29 schools in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). No Place For Hate at Farmland contains members in 4th and 5th grades who meet monthly to discuss and plan efforts to support diversity and inclusion in school and in the community.
