What's Happening in 6th Grade?
Our MOCOCAP Career Coach, Ms. Brooks, will be going into classrooms in the next coming weeks for an engaging session on career exploration centered around the RIASEC model. Through this presentation, students will complete assessments to discover their primary interest types and explore how their personal strengths align with potential career paths, college majors, and future job opportunities.
The RIASEC model categorizes career interests into six distinct personality types:
Realistic (Doers): Prefer practical, hands-on activities, working with tools, animals, machinery, or outdoors.
Investigative (Thinkers): Enjoy researching, analyzing data, solving complex problems, and exploring scientific concepts.
Artistic (Creators): Thrive in creative, unstructured environments focusing on self-expression, design, writing, or performance.
Social (Helpers): Passionate about teaching, healing, counseling, and directly supporting or training others.
Enterprising (Persuaders): Driven by leading teams, persuading audiences, taking business risks, and managing initiatives.
Conventional (Organizers): Focus on structure, detailed data analysis, record-keeping, and systematically organizing information.

What's Happening in 7th Grade?
Student will have a chance to learn about Regional High School programs at the end of the year thru lessons, handouts, and lunch-and-learn opportunities. Stay posted as more details will be coming soon!
7th grade students will also engage in RIASEC Lessons, see 6th grade column for more information.

Counselors will be providing lessons and opportunities to 8th grade students to learn about the Regional High School Programs coming for the 2027-2028 School Year - Regional Programs and Themes | Montgomery County Public Schools | Rockville, MD
