The following resources are designed for high school student-athletes, parents, coaches and other who help students successfully navigate the initial-eligibility process.
1. Registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center:
Students should register as early as possible, ideally before their freshman year of high school.
They can create a free Profile Page account or a Certification account, depending on their specific needs.
Registration involves providing personal information, details about coursework, sports participation, and paying a fee.
2. Meeting NCAA Eligibility Requirements:
Initial-Eligibility Brochure: A basic look at the requirements to becoming an NCAA Division I or II student-athlete
Division I: Requires a minimum core GPA and meeting test score requirements (though test scores are no longer required for full-time student-athletes in D1 and D2). Also requires completing a specific number of NCAA-approved core courses.
Division I Initial-Eligibility Quick Reference Sheet: A brief overview of Division I initial-eligibility academic requirements.
Division II: Requires a minimum core GPA and submitting proof of graduation.
Division II Initial-Eligibility Quick Reference Sheet: A brief overview of Division II initial-eligibility academic requirements.
Division III: Each school determines its own admission and academic requirements.
Amateurism Certification: All student-athletes must comply with NCAA amateurism rules, which are verified through the Amateurism Certification Questionnaire.
3. High School Graduation:
Students must graduate from high school to be eligible for NCAA athletics.
4. College Acceptance:
Even if a student-athlete meets NCAA eligibility requirements, they must be accepted into the specific college or university they wish to attend.
5. Amateurism Certification:
Students must ensure they comply with NCAA amateurism rules and receive final amateurism certification from the Eligibility Center.

You need to be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center to compete at an NCAA Division I or II school. Create a Certification Account and on the NCAA website and they will guide you through the process.
You need to create a Certification Account to make official visits to Divisions I and II schools or to sign a National Letter of Intent.
Students with financial need may qualify for a fee waiver. (See NCAA Eligibility Center Fee Waiver Video)

Create a free Profile Page if you plan to compete at a Division III school or are not yet sure where you want to compete.
You'll get an NCAA ID, and they will send you important reminders as you complete high school.
