12/1 - This week Kindergarten is completing the MCPS Countywide personal body safety lesson specifically for their grade level. We read a book called Your Body Belongs to You and confirm understanding of private parts being private by coloring bathing suits on two figures.
Week of 11/17 - We completed a Peace of Mind lesson to learn about focus. We talked about the definition and practiced focus in different scenarios. We discussed the value of focus and building our threshold.
Week of 11/10 - We worked on cooperation our Character Trait of the month. We took turns working together to sequence a seed story. Each student had part of the story and got to work together to find their missing pages and sequence the seed growth story.
Week of 10/6 - Hershey and Dr. Ebert visited to hang out with Kindergarten to practice kind expectations for engaging safely and respectfully with dogs. Respect is the character trait for October.
Week of 9/8 - Students listened to the story The Way I Feel. They practiced showing each other the named emotions. This helepd us build self-awareness and notice our own emotions, as well as practice reading social cues by recognizing emotions in others.
We did a counseling office scavenger hunt to learn about the different tools and toys in the room and when/how to use them
We discussed how to meet with Mrs. Fleming (using the Counselor Request Station)
Discussed and earned PAWS (our school wide positive reinforcement system)
Learned about and practiced Responsibility the September Character Cat trait.
Learned Flower Breathing and Five Finger Breathing (Mindful Moment Strategies)
