Week of 12/1 - 3rd graders participated in the Personal Body Safety Lessons, MCPS county wide lessons that are grade level specific. 3rd graders discussed physical warning signs of uncomfortable feelings/experiences. We watched a Powtoon and processed moments of discomfort for the scenario and then discussed strategies to get help when feeling uncomfortable.
Week of 11/17: We completed Peace of Mind lesson #6 this week. This lesson teaches about finding your feelings. This includes building our sensory experience of our own emotions and reading clues from others to identify emotions they may be experiencing so we can respond in a supportive manner. We also discussed the value of building emotional awareness.
Week of 11/3: We learned about the character trait of the month - Cooperation. Students worked in whole group to order letters and create a word, small groups to sequence events and whole group teamwork to identify cooperation in a variety of languages.
Week of 10/6 - We defined respect and practiced how to restore or make amends when we've harmed or hurt another by not demonstrating respect.

We discussed the character trait of the month, October. We discussed the importance of problem solving peacefully, using polite, kind words, and practiced listening and following directions.
How to Apologize is a story that helps us think through when we do something that impacts others in a negative way. We talked about how saying and showing sorry authentically can help restore relationships but we should only say it when we mean it so the words don't lose meaning.

We did a counseling office scavenger hunt to learn about the different tools and toys in the room and when/how to use them
We discussed how to meet with Mrs. Fleming (using the Counselor Request Station)
Discussed and earned PAWS (our school wide positive reinforcement system)
