DORS Summer Pre-ETS Program — Limited Spots Available
The Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) is offering a Summer Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program for eligible students with disabilities. This free, structured summer program helps students explore career interests, develop workplace readiness skills, build self-advocacy, and gain hands-on learning experience outside of the traditional school setting. There are currently 15 spots available, so families interested in learning more should reach out as soon as possible.
To be considered, students must be enrolled in high school and between the ages of 14 and 21. Families can request services through the DORS website:

Biotech Pre-Apprenticeship Information Session 📅 Tuesday, May 26, 2026 | 6:00–7:30 PM
Montgomery College Germantown Campus — Bioscience Education Center, Room 162
Current 10th graders are invited to learn about the Biotech Pre-Apprenticeship Program, a partnership between Montgomery College and MCPS that helps students build entry-level biotech skills, earn dual enrollment college credits, and get a head start on an AAS degree in Biotechnology or a Biomanufacturing Certificate.
To apply, students need a 2.75+ unweighted GPA, dual enrollment readiness, a current transcript, and a one-page essay about their interest in biotechnology.

📋 Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey — Deadline June 5, 2026
Families of students receiving special education services are invited to complete the Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey. This anonymous survey helps guide efforts to improve special education services statewide. It takes about 5 minutes and must be completed in one sitting. Available in English and Spanish.

MC Admission Help Session — For Graduating Seniors— 📅 Monday, June 22, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
MCPS Transition Services and Montgomery College are hosting a free admission help session for graduating seniors on Support will be available for completing the MC application, setting up MyMC accounts, applying for Disability Support Services, starting the FAFSA, placement testing information, and campus tours.

MCPS Summer Internship Program for College Students 📅 June 22 – August 7, 2026 | 20–40 hours/week ⏰ Referral Deadline: Wednesday, April 22, 2026 by 11:00 AM
The MCPS Office of the Chief of Staff is offering a paid, seven-week summer internship program for college sophomores, juniors, and graduating seniors. Interns gain hands-on experience across divisions of the central office, build professional connections, and develop a deeper understanding of how a large public school system operates.
Interested? Staff and families can refer eligible college students using this form. Program staff will follow up directly with referred students regarding the application process. Participation is not guaranteed and is based on available spots.
Confirmation of participation will be provided no later than May 20, 2026.

PCE DMV Day Trippers — Summer Program 📅 June 22 – July 17, 2026 | 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday–Friday 📍 Departs from Rockville Town Center (transportation from Takoma Park available at no extra cost)
Four weeks of community-based day trips throughout the DMV for transition-aged youth and young adults. Destinations include museums, parks, historic sites, beaches, and more. Each week is $550 ($525/week when registering for two or more weeks). Additional activity fees apply for some destinations.

💼 MCPS Summer RISE Program 2026 — Rising Juniors & Seniors
MCPS's Summer RISE program offers rising juniors and seniors a hands-on, career-based learning experience over five weeks from June 22 through July 24, 2026. Students complete a minimum of 50 hours of in-person, virtual, or hybrid career experiences with local employers — all connected to their career interests. A great way to build real-world skills before senior year.

reachHIRE Summer Bridge Program — Universities at Shady Grove 📅 June 29 – July 1, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM 📍 Universities at Shady Grove Campus, Rockville, MD
Free, three-day summer program for rising high school sophomores through seniors. Hosted by the USG Center for Transfer Access, reachHIRE focuses on academic preparation and career exploration through interactive workshops on communication, professionalism, and critical thinking. Students also have the opportunity to explore bachelor's degree programs and network with professionals. Students must be available to attend all three days. Transportation is the responsibility of the student/family.

This free, week-long program offers young women a hands-on introduction to firefighting and emergency services. All uniforms and gear are provided at no cost.

PCE Youth Empowerment Skills (YES!) Program — Summer 📅 July 20 – July 31, 2026 | 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday–Friday 📍 Community and classroom settings (public transportation used for all travel)
Two-week summer program for transition-aged youth focused on travel training, meal planning, financial literacy, independent living, and career readiness. Facilitated by special educators. $550/week or $1,050 for both weeks. ⚠️ Week 1 is full — waitlist available.
