Welcome to B-CC Transition Resources
This page is maintained by Marc Lawrence, Transition Support Teacher at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. Here you'll find upcoming events, resources, and tools to support your student's transition planning.
What is Transition Planning?
Transition planning is a required part of every student's IEP beginning at age 14. The goal is to help students build a clear, personalized plan for life after high school. At B-CC, transition planning focuses on Education & Training, Employment, and Independent Living.
Education & Training
Exploring the full range of post-secondary options — college, vocational and technical programs, military service, apprenticeships, and workforce entry. In collaboration with B-CC's College and Career Center and College Tracks, we help students research pathways, explore options, and build a plan that fits their individual goals.
Employment
Supporting students in exploring career interests and pathways. In collaboration with CTE, students may access internship and apprenticeship opportunities. Students can also use the Kuder platform to identify these opportunities, and families can be connected with Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) through DORS.
Independent Living
Building self-advocacy, self-management, and daily life skills. Students learn to communicate their needs, advocate for their accommodations, and navigate adulthood with confidence and independence. Families can also get support with planning ahead for Disability Support Services (DSS) at the college level.
