Katie Hatler is a Certified Orthotist and prosthetic resident at Hanger Clinic in Bethesda, Maryland. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Health, Medicine, and Society from Lehigh University in 2017 and a Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics from the School of Health Professions at The University of Texas Southwestern in 2018. Following graduation, Katie completed a 12 month clinical track orthotics residency at Harry J. Lawall & Son in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Every day, Katie works one-on-one with patients of all ages that have physical and functional disabilities as a result of trauma, an illness, or disability to design and fabricate custom orthoses and artificial limbs. Custom orthotics can range from cranial remolding helmets, scoliosis braces, knee ankle foot orthoses (KAFOs), and ankle foot orthoses (AFOs) while prosthetics involve replacing the function of a limb that is no longer present. Currently, Katie is focusing on evaluating, casting, and fabricating artificial limbs for patients that have experienced a transtibial (below the knee) amputation.
