World Studies

The World Studies department at Argyle builds on the skills necessary for students to access high school and college level courses. We begin teaching analysis and writing skills built around thesis statements, evidence, and reasoning. Throughout a student’s three years at Argyle, they will see themes of government, economics, culture, and geography interlaced throughout their units of study. Critical thinking and guided debate are woven into all lessons. Students begin their studies in the ancient world and end after the American Civil War. Our department strives to create culturally proficient and engaging materials that will push students to ask difficult questions and become global thinkers.
