Hello! My name is Ashley Reeves, and I am excited to be your child's third grade teacher this year!

I am the mother of a 13-year-old daughter, Marley, and two dogs, June and Daisy. The students will hear me talk a lot about Marley and the rest of my family because they are very important to me. They will also see Marley frequently because she's an eighth grader at AMS, so she walks over to my classroom every afternoon.

This is my 19th year of teaching, all spent at Auburn Elementary! I spent my first 12 years teaching fourth grade and the next five years teaching second grade. I looped with my second graders to third grade last year, so this will be my second year teaching third!

I grew up in Christiansburg and graduated from Christiansburg High School in 2002. After that, I attended Virginia Tech, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education in 2005 and a master’s degree in elementary education in 2007. I am currently taking classes through the University of Virginia to obtain an endorsement in gifted education. It was my dream since elementary school to become a teacher, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to fulfill that dream year after year!

In my spare time, I enjoy photography, shopping, reading, traveling, watching UVA sports, and spending time with my friends and family.

It is my belief that parents, students, and teachers are a team who work together to make sure students are as successful as they can possibly be. You will hear from me often throughout the year, as I strive to always keep lines of communication open and families informed about what we're doing in the classroom. I also believe that our class is a family. We will work hard to establish that sense of family at the beginning of the year and continue to reinforce it throughout the school year. I look forward to having you and your child on my team and in my family this year. I also can't wait to start helping your child learn and grow!
