General Meet Information

Meets

At a meet we represent Kromrey Middle School, and we are proud to say our runners have always done a wonderful job. Please keep that up - after you run, find a spot on the course and cheer-on your teammates!

· Start time for races typically looks like this (Baraboo is the exception):

o 4:15 – 7^th grade girls

o 4:40 – 8^th grade girls

o 5:05 – 7^th grade boys

o 5:30 – 8^th grade boys

Cross Country Distances:

· 6^th & 7^th grade boys and girls – approximately 1.5 miles

· 8^th grade boys and girls – approximately 2 miles

· 6^th graders will get a chance to run in 2 meets during the season.

· We will have a meeting place and where we will put our clothing and backpacks.

· At meets, bring warm clothes and a change of clothes - you sweat when you run but it can, and will, get cold afterwards.

· Time is a factor – when we get there, warm up and get familiar with the course right away!

· We will hand out name tags on the bus ride to the meets to pin on your shirts. This stays on your shirt during the meets and will be torn off your shirt at the end of the race to determine place and times.

· Warm up in groups; include everyone and help your teammates get ready.

· When the race is over, keep our area clean, drink water and eat something healthy.

· If you have to leave early please follow the criteria in the Athletic Transportation Policy (you may only take YOUR child home). Make sure to sign out your child with one of the coaches before leaving the meet.

· We should return to Kromrey from most meets between 6:45 and 7:15. Please have a plan to get your child home from school at that time.

If there are changes we will try to have them announced during the school day. Weather can affect races – we will usually run in the rain, but it is the host school’s call. Practices are similar; we will continue to monitor the weather.
