Kromrey Cross Country "Uniform" Order Information
Ordering a t-shirt or tank top is NOT required for running in meets! If you do not wish to order a uniform, wearing a white t-shirt or tank top to match the team's colors works very well.
Simply Swimming on University Ave. in Middleton is the supplier of our team uniform, and here is the link to place an order...
To have a uniform shirt in time for the first meet, the deadline to order is 11:59 pm on Thursday, September 12th.
There is more info concerning uniform ordering on the drop down menu in the upper right corner of this home page.
Frequently Asked Questions...
1. Can 6th graders participate?
Yes, they are welcome to practice each day and may participate in two meets during the season if they would like to (Verona on 9/26 and Glacier Creek on 10/17).
2. Do I need to have ALL of the forms / fee taken care of before my child can attend practice?
Yes, ALL forms and the participation fee MUST be completed before any participation in cross country.
3. Does my child need to attend every practice and meet?
No, the coaches are flexible in working around the many other activities that students have going on. We understand students will sometimes need to leave practice early or miss it entirely. However, if your child is going to miss practice or a meet, please let us know by providing a written note or e-mail with the dates and/or times your child needs to be excused from.
4. What does a typical practice look like?
Students meet the coaches in the field house, where we take attendance and conduct a team meeting. Practice activities include warm-ups, form running practice, strength development, and a variety of running "workouts" such as pacing practice, running games, hill repeats, and runs on the Pheasant Branch Conservancy trail. We usually run for "time", so runners of all ability levels naturally do the distance that fits them best.
5. How far do the athletes run at a meet?
Typically 6th and 7th graders run 1.5 miles, and 8th graders run 2 miles.
6. What time does each race begin?
This may also vary slightly, but usually the race times are as follows...
4:15 6th/7th grade girls
4:40 8th grade girls
5:05 6th/7th grade boys
5:30 8th grade boys
There is more meet information in the drop down menu at the top right of the home page.
7. What is the district's transportation policy, if I want to take my child home after the meet?
We will all travel to the meets on a district bus, and will be leaving school early (approx. 3:00) to arrive in time to warm-up and get familiar with the course. For safety reasons, the district only allows you to take your own child home from meets. To do this, you may see one of the coaches to sign the transportation waiver at the meet, or fill it out in advance and give it to us at the meet or at practice.
Here is the link for the transportation waiver...
