Each year, Kromrey 5th graders kick the school year off by participating in a spirited and interactive middle school transition program called WEB. WEB stands for "Where Everybody Belongs" and is designed to welcome 5th graders and make them feel comfortable through out their first year at Kromrey Middle School.
Built on a belief that students can help students succeed, WEB trains members of the 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. WEB Leaders function as positive role models who guide the 5th graders in discovering what it takes to be successful in middle school. All 5th grade students will attend a WEB orientation before the first day of school where they will meet their 8th grade WEB Leaders. During this orientation day, 8th grade WEB Leaders will guide their 5th grade groups through a series of fun activities designed to help students get to know one another and learn important information about Kromrey. Students will also tour the new building with their WEB groups.
After orientation day, the WEB program continues to provide support for 5th graders through a variety of activities during the school year. Social activities like WEB recesses, read-ins, and team building activities provide opportunities for WEB Leaders and 5th graders to stay connected and further build positive relationships. The goal of the Kromrey WEB program is to build a positive school climate by promoting connections between students that encourage personal and academic success.
