When it comes to improving mathematics instruction in the classroom, what, exactly are we aiming for? How will we know when we have achieved it? Perhaps most importantly, how do we make it happen in every classroom?
The MCOE Continuous Improvement Team seeks to address a long-standing failure of professional development by utilizing a comprehensive, ongoing, and sustainable plan that includes support for all stakeholders involved: teachers, site leaders, and district administration.
Our Comprehensive Improvement Plan employs five key components that ensure authentic improvement in the quality of classroom instruction and an increase in student achievement:
ambitious instruction
job-embedded coaching
support for professional learning communities
building capacity of site and district leadership
implementation of continuous improvement
