Are you wondering WHY we ask families to donate? It's public school and everything should be covered, right? Unfortunately, that is NOT the case. In fact, our kids get approximately $600 LESS per student than surrounding districts. This has to do with our school demographics but it leaves the burden on us as parents.
As families we each chose OPUSD because we want the best for their kids. Often times parents will say they don’t donate because the State of California, their taxes, or the district should be providing everything their children need for their education. We don’t disagree. But regardless of what “should” be paid for by the state the reality is that OPUSD receives the absolute lowest dollar amount per child in the entire state of California.
Every dollar you give to the Give to Grow campaign goes directly to your student's life experience including clubs, our sports league, music program, wellness center, facility improvements (i.e. adding misters for hot days, umbrellas, gaga pit, grassy areas for more comfortable seating, fans in locker rooms), community events, speakers on topics that matter to middle-schoolers, WEB programming, graduation events and so much more. These are all things NOT covered by the state or district but are of tremendous value to our students.
YOUR PARTICIPATION MATTERS at every level and amount! We value your Time, Talent and Treasure. So think about what you can give to MCMS and how it will directly impact your child's success.

Donations are welcomed year-round and we are so grateful for any amount you can give. Every dollar adds up to programs that touch every student. Your participation is what matters most!
Please consider joining the PFA with an annual membership of $25.00 per family. PFA membership shows your support for our school, gives each family voting rights and a voice regarding PFA matters and connects you to the community. PFA meetings are held several times a year.
Our $25 dollar supplies donation provides for an all school supplies fund that is used campus wide including paper, pencils, highlighters, folders and more.

In order to deliver a high-quality program for our students, we depend on voluntary donations from parents. Please know again, however, that ALL students will receive the same opportunities, experiences, and/or materials regardless of whether a contribution is made. Please also know that if we do not raise the anticipated amount set aside for the budget this year, the program will have to cut back on extra opportunities for our students in the future.
