Do you already spend time each day on social media? This challenge is for you! Add a few teacher idols to your follow list and scroll through and be inspired! It's amazing to see what we are already doing are best practices in other classrooms. Also, it's more fun to steal other ideas that look like they work! Why reinvent the wheel, right?
The ideas that are going around out there on social media are amazing! I now have a "keep the quote," thanks to Miss5th on Instagram. Following FlipGrid is a great place to find resources and see some great things people are doing in the classroom. I watched a teacher on Flip Grid last night give spelling tests using Flip Grid, I can't wait to try that! Also, I love The Rigorous Owl and Teach, Create, Motivate on Instagram. Sometimes, it's seeing how someone else is using the resources we already have to help us see how they are going to work in our classrooms.
The resources you use for this project are things that you are already using to keep up with friends and family. Start with the social media you are already using, then begin following teachers and educational sites. Instagram and Twitter are excellent resources. Begin by following the teachers in McKinney who teach the same content and grade as you. Our best resources are sometimes right here!
You are challenged to show us 5 teachers or sites you have started to follow, then tell us one thing you have added or changed in your classroom because of something you found on your new social media feed.
