If you are a new student to MISD, you will receive your laptop within the first few days of school. At that time, we will help you get your laptop set up correctly.
First things first... a little explanation of all the abbreviations:
SSO=Single Sign On. Log in with one password and the page takes you to a Dashbord with almost all digital things needed to be a student in MISD.
HAC=Home Access Center. This page shows you your schedule, your Classwork grades (quizzes, Summative tests), semester grades, and more. HAC icon is on the SSO Dashboard.
Canvas is the Learning Management System used in MISD for classwork, assignments, onine quizzes, announcements from teachers, and more. Canvas icon is on the SSO Dashboard.
The instructions below are the correct and ONLY WAY for students to access HAC (HAC contains your schedule, Classwork, Semester Grades, etc).
New to MISD students will receive log in instructions during the first few days of attendance when they receive their MISD laptop. If you need to access your SSO Dashboard before you come to school, here are instructions to use at home in advance.
If you are using a personal device, simply go to www.mckinneyisd.net in your preferred browser. There is an SSO button in the top right corner of the home page of our district website. If you are using a personal device, and accessing SSO for the first time, follow these instructions to activate your account.
If you are a PARENT/GUARDIAN, and need access to your parent HAC account, please see the instructions at the bottom of this page.
Every time you need to access Canvas, HAC, textbook, library search, etc, go to the SSO icon (or sso.mckinneyisd.net) and log in with your credentials.
Click on the Home Access Center (HAC) icon to see your schedule and grades. Click on the Canvas icon to go to your courses that your teacher has set up for you.
You will have a much easier time accessing resources from your teachers and EVERYTHING if you set Google Chrome to be your default browser instead of Safari. Follow these steps to make Chrome your default browser:
Go to Finder, Applications, and Open Chrome. You should be prompted to set Chrome as Default. If the prompts do not pop up onto your screen, follow these steps:
On your computer, open Chrome by clicking on Finder, Applications and open Chrome.
In the top right, click More .
Click Settings.
In the "Default browser" section, click Make default.
If you don't see the button, Google Chrome is already your default browser.
If you have followed the instructions for SSO above, you should see Google Drive as an application on your SSO Dashboard. Click on Google Drive, then the apps button to access your student GMail account.
