Arrival & Dismissal

Arrival/Tardies:

School starts promptly at 8am. Children are allowed to come into the cafeteria as early as 7:15 if they are eating breakfast. Starting at 7:30 Kindergarten students are welcome to enter the building through the main school doors. Students will be counted tardy if they are not in the building by 8:00am

Dismissal

Glen Oaks Dismissal is at 3:07pm. A parent, guardian, or approved adult will be required to have the child's dismissal card to pick up. If you do not have a dismissal card, a staff member will ask you to go to the office where you will need to show your drivers license in order to get a new dismissal card. Older siblings will meet their Kindergarten siblings in the cafeteria after school if they are picked up by car or if they walk home. A staff member will escort Club 360 or Daycare van riders to the appropriate area. 

Here are the different ways that students dismiss from school in the afternoons:

1. Carpool (with your dismissal carpool tag, your child will get in the car to go home. You will pull up to the Front of the school with your tag showing in the window. If you have an older sibling they will meet your Kindergartener in the cafeteria and come out together. A teacher will let your child into the car as you pull up.)

2. Parent Walker (with your dismissal carpool tag, your child will walk home with you. You will meet towards the left side of the school and hold up your dismissal tag)

3. Sibling Walker (you told the front office you give permission for your child to walk home with their older sibling out the front door together)

4. Club360 (you have enrolled and paid for the after school program) 

5. Daycare (your child will be riding a daycare van)

If you have a Change of Plans for Afternoon Transportation

If there’s ever a change of plans for the way your child will be going home, please send an email to the front office officego@mckinneyisd.net and CC your child's teacher, OR contact the front office at 469-302-6403(6400). 

Pro-tip:  There is no guarantee that your child's teacher will have time to check their email in the middle of the day, so your best way to get the info to us is to email the front office.
