What can online graphing calculators do?
Desmos and Geogebra both have highly-functioning online graphing calculators that we could use for many purposes. And the best part is... They're free! Go through this page to discover ways to utilize the online calculators and please show them to your students too!
Graphing calculator on Geogebra is very useful for geometry concepts. Other than a regular online calculator like the one on Desmos, Geogebra also has a place where users could construct several shapes such as circles, triangles, squares, lines, measure angles and area, etc.
The following videos shows some functions in Geogebra to construct figures and lines. Showing students how to do these on their own might help them understand how to find centers of triangles, angle bisectors, line of reflection, etc. without using any physical tools.
How to construct a centroid of a triangle, which is the intersection of medians.
How to construct an incenter of a triangle, which is the intersection of the angle bisectors. Also shows how to construct a circle with the incenter as the center.
Please feel free to play around with the Geogebra calculator! Please change the "Graphing" mode to "Geometry" mode for constructing polygons.
