About

The SNAP Challenge is a commitment to live on a SNAP budget and an opportunity to reflect on food insecurity in our community. The SNAP Challenge is NOT meant to imitate the lives of those dealing with food insecurity. Issues of poverty and food insecurity are complex and can not be encompassed in an activity as simple as this.

This activity is being convened by Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program in Brunswick, Maine. MCHPP is a hunger relief agency with a variety of programs, most notably a food pantry, soup kitchen, and summer feeding program. If you'd like to learn more about MCHPP then please visit us at mchpp.org.

SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which is a federal nutrition program that is responsible for feeding millions of Americans each year. The eligibility requirements are based on income, assets, and work status. If you'd like to learn more about SNAP then please visit thisissnap.org.
