Learning from home is an exciting, but very different, opportunity as a student! It requires responsibility and self-motivation as you continue learning and engaging with your teachers and classmates. Here are some key highlights of how this works in our school district:
For our students who have regular access to the internet, you'll be able to use your own device or a school district Chromebook to access Google Classroom. There, you will find information posted by your teacher about ongoing projects, discussions, and more.
Some teachers may choose to set up a "live" session, where you will be able to video chat with your teacher and classmates. If you are not able to attend a live session, there will be a recording you can watch at a later date.
Your teacher(s) will check in with you in some way each week. That might be through video, a phone call, an email - there are a lot of different ways, but your teachers want to know that you're doing well and provide you with any help you might need.
Your teacher(s) will provide you with feedback on how you're doing on an assignment or project, even though they won't be giving you traditional letter grades. It's important that you pay attention to what they're telling you and ask questions if you're not understanding something.
We know some families live in areas where it's hard to get a good internet connection. The school district is working on a plan to support those families, and we'll be sharing more details about that plan very soon!
Your teachers, counselors, principals, etc. are here to help you! Typically we'll be available each day from 11:15-3:30pm to connect with you through email, a video chat, or a phone call.
Just like at school, students should follow the expectations of the Student Code of Conduct when completing work and interacting with their teachers and classmates.
