KAUPAPA:

The course develops the students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, based on the required topic areas. 

YEAR 12 PREREQUISITES:

YEAR 13  PREREQUISITES:

• Year 12 German

YEAR 12 COURSE CONTENT:

In Year 12, students can:

• communicate about future plans

• offer and respond to advice, warnings and suggestions

• express and respond to approval and disapproval, agreement and disagreement

• offer and respond to information and opinions, giving reasons

• read about and recount actual or imagined events in the past.

YEAR 13 COURSE CONTENT:

In Year 13, students can:

• communicate about certainty and uncertainty, possibility and probability

• develop an argument or point of view, with reasons

• recount a series of events to inform, persuade or entertain

• communicate the same information in different ways for different audiences

• respond to selected and adapted texts in German

NB: For both Year 12 and 13, Students will attend events such as TalkFest, and workshops, films and cultural events. There may be possible exchanges offered depending on availability. 

YEAR 12 and 13 COSTS:

• Students will be charged for a workbook (cost TBC) and for any class trips to cover transport etc.  

FUTURE STUDIES / CAREER OPTIONS:

• Further language studies

• Translation services

• Diplomacy

• Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT)

• Bi-lingual job applicants are often preferred when applying for multi-national companies
