Students who satisfactorily undertake this course in year 12 will:

• Examine and apply the assumptions on which accounting is based

• Develop a knowledge and understanding of the systems and controls required to ensure accounting data is processed accurately

• Prepare financial reports for external users. Analyse, interpret and evaluate financial information

• Process transactions using a computer software package

YEAR 12 PREREQUISITES:    

• Merit in Level 1 Maths

YEAR 13 PREREQUISITES: 

• 14 Credits in level 2 accounting

YEAR 12 COURSE CONTENT:

• Conceptual basis of accounting. 

• Prepare financial reports for a sole trader

• Process financial information for non current assets and balance day adjustments

• Analyse, interpret and evaluate the financial information for a sole proprietor

• Process financial information using accounting software

• Investigate the accounting subsystems within an organisation

YEAR 13 COURSE CONTENT

This course aims to:

• Manage the financial affairs of individuals, whānau, and small, medium, or large entities, including community organisations, that may be local, regional, national, or global, to enable internal and external users to make effective and ethical decisions.

• Make use of appropriate communication tools and skills to process, report, and interpret information for individuals, whānau, and small, medium, or large entities, including community organisations, that may be local, regional, national, or global.
