Hello! My name is Renee Hensley and I am the teacher for the Academically Gifted/Talent Development students at Eastfield Global Magnet School and North Cove Elementary. I have been teaching for 27 years and I cannot imagine doing any other job. I love teaching and challenging students!

I am blessed to have a wonderful, supportive family! I am married to Kurt Hensley and we have two children. My son, Luke, is 22 years old and is a graduate student at Liberty University working on a master's degree and my daughter, Emma, is 17 years old and is a senior at McDowell Early College. For the 2019-2020 school year, I will be at North Cove on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Thursdays and Fridays, I will be at Eastfield. On Wednesdays, I will rotate between schools and attend some meetings.

Educational Background: I received a BS degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Psychology from Appalachian State University in 1992. I have completed 180 hours of personnel development with Consultants in Educational Services to gain add-on licensure in Gifted Education. I also received my Master's Degree in School Administration from Appalachian State University in 2010. During my teaching career, I have taught students in grades K-9.
