I graduated high school from R-S Central in 2001. After that I attended Isothermal Community College for two years. In 2003, I transferred to Appalachian State University. There I received my bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics and graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. I began student teaching at McDowell High School in the Spring of 2005 and liked everyone so much, I joined the faculty that fall. While in my second year of teaching, I started my Masters degree in Instructional Technology and finished two years later.
In 2009 I became a National Board Certified Teacher, something I am very proud of.
Teaching is something I've always wanted to do. I love my job and I love my students. I look forward to having you in class.
I was named Teacher of the Year for McDowell High School for the 2014 - 2015 school year. That same year I was also named McDowell County Schools Secondary Teacher of the Year. I was very honored to have been chosen for both.
Secondary Teacher of Year 2014 - 2015

Her first period students and the MHS Administrative Team were very proud to share in this special moment with Mrs. Ferguson!
