Unionville has developed a broad base of community partners who strongly support EARTH/STEM instruction and career education. All students have access to multiple opportunities for additional EARTH/STEM activities during the school day as well as outside of the school day. In addition, the Monroe County Community School Corporation provides additional STEM opportunities for all students on evenings and weekends.
Unionville cultivates robust connections with diverse community partners, fostering a collaborative environment enriched by regular guidance and feedback. Our stakeholders actively engage through biannual surveys and meetings, wielding invaluable insights that shape the evolution of our programming and curriculum. We value these partnerships and continually seek opportunities to expand our network with additional businesses and experts in the field.
Students are regularly exposed to numerous careers in the EARTH/STEM field. Teachers supplement lessons with guest speakers, on-line interactions, field trips and various enriching experiences. Teachers skillfully incorporate employability skills, adding a layer of real-world application to the learning process.
Unionville students have many opportunities for additional EARTH/STEM engagement through various activities within and outside of the school day. Unionville offers monthly Club Friday, Robotics Club, Crazy8's Math Club, Garden Club, Scrabble Club, and Running Club. In addition MCCSC offers GEMS, STEM to THEM Mobile Lab, Maker's Challenges and more. Our students are also very fortunate because our school sits on 18 acres of wooded land including a pond with an outdoor learning lab, raised garden beds, an outdoor learning pavilion, a large grassy play area, and a shelter house. We also have classroom sets of stumps set up around the school which provides additional outdoor space for learning. Our school has a fantastic campus for learning and growing.
Unionville strives to ensure that those underrepresented in STEM careers are provided opportunities to engage in STEM related activities, such as GEMS, Maker's Challenges, STEM field trips, and more. Having strong relationships with a variety of community partners also enhances our ability to bring in additional resources and learning opportunities for our students.
