Create/Update Committees and set timelines and tasks: (CIP Checklist Spreadsheet: Fill out Responsibilities) Put this file in your "Shared" School Improvement Folder. Make sure every TEAM member has access to shared folder. (School Improvement Teams are encouraged to have students, board members, community members)

*Review the External Team Report. Make any changes necessary to the process that will help your current SIP cycle.
Create District Profile as outlines in the Nebraska Framework Handbook. Create school improvement goal based on data analysis and the previous external report commendations and recommendations.
Create committee structures to support the school improvement goal (s) and to document the progress made over time.
Research strategies to accomplish goal (to be implemented through the Action Plan)
Establish a method for communicating school improvement progress with all stakeholders.

Gather baseline data (student performance, demographic, program, and perceptual) from identified data sources. Sources could include:

Set Date/Agenda, develop visit schedule (see example on pages 11-12 of External Team Visit guidebook- NDE CIP Toolkit)
Sometimes External Team Leader will set an initial agenda of what they want during the visit, may have to communicate with them to set this.
Email or mail a copy of the school profile to team members (two weeks prior to visit): Email the website to them.
Gather evidence and documentation in preparation for the team's review of he school improvement process (digital documentation or paper)
Prepare Initial Presentation: Who/What/Where? : Embed on website for easy access and for external team to use as a reference during their work time. (Keep initial presentation concise, to the point... address the 'why' behind the goal, what data that backs it up, and show what you've done..provide examples in digital format)
Update School Improvement Website (Videos/Pictures/ Highlights
Have ILCD, HAL, and Multicultural Plan available on the website by External Visit.
Communicate/Review with entire staff of Action Plan Goals/Activities/Mission Statement/etc.
Host School presentation (overview of chronology of CIP, committee structures, data gathering procedures and instruments, decisions, strategies, issues, questions, etc)
Conduct small group meetings (discuss details of the local improvement plan)
Conduct Interviews (visit school building and interview classroom teachers)
Hold external team meeting (use Continuous Improvement Technical Assistance Rubric to frame part of the discussion)
Meet with administrative team and external review chair.
Meet with all staff for oral exit report
Write thank you letters to team members and staff.
Receive written report within 2-3 weeks of the conclusion of the visit.
Post your written report on your SIP site in a logical place for easy reference on your next cycle.
Communicate to stakeholders of the commendations and recommendations that were provided by the external team.
