Match ball
- Size 6, for the women’s competition
- Size 7, for the men’s competition
Number of players
- The maximum number of players will be 10
Score bench
- Team managers from each school will do the score bench for each game
Technical fouls for abuse by players (SIN BIN)
- Technical fouls for verbal abuse of an official shall result in the player being substituted to the team bench for
five (5) minutes of playing time. Player can be replaced
- When the official calls a technical foul, they are to look at the clock and quote the time remaining, so the score bench officials can note it on the scoresheet, e.g. 8:41 1st quarter and the player can then re-enter the game at 3:41 or after via a substitution through the score table
Timings for all games except for the Championship Grand Finals
- WARM UP: All games will start at the specified time
- GAME TIME: 4 x 10 minute quarters with the clock stopping for all timeouts. Last 2min of the 4th quarter is fully timed if the score is within 10 points or less.
- 1/4 & 3/4 TIME INTERVALS: 1 minute break
- 1/2 TIME INTERVAL: 2 minutes
- TIMEOUTS: 1 time out per team per quarter which cannot be carried over
- OVERTIME: Championship redrawn pool games and semi-finals (3-minute period)
• 1 minute break before overtime begins
• 1 timeout permitted per team - Click Stops
Timings for the Championship Grand Final (Men’s and Women’s)
- WARM UP: Minimum 5 minutes
- Bench staff supplied by host school
- GAME TIME: 4 x 8 minute quarters fully timed with a 24-second shot clock
- 1/4 & 3/4 TIME INTERVALS: 1 minutes
- 1/2 TIME INTERVAL: 2 minutes
- TIMEOUTS: 1 time out per team per quarter which cannot be carried over
- OVERTIME: 3-minutes fully timed, 2-minute interval, 1 time out per team per OT
Pool Matches / Placing for Finals
- The classification of teams in all Pools shall be made on points according to their win loss record, namely 3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. There are no points for a forfeit
- If two teams are equal on points, the results of the game between the two teams will be used to determine placings
- If more than two teams are equal on points, the result of the games between the teams tied will be used to determine the placings
- If the teams in the points mentioned directly above are still equal, placings will be determined on goal average (points for divided by points against) using the results of the games between the tied teams
- If the teams in the points mentioned above are still equal, placings will be determined on goal average using the results of all games in the Pool group
Further Competition Information
- Players disqualified by a referee from a game, shall not play in the following game for that team. Individual schools may lengthen this suspension
- Each school is expected to provide one bench official. Any School that have two teams across both venues during the carnival and require assistance with score bench, please let the Carnival Convener know and MCC will endeavor to provide some support.
- All players are to be attired in the registered uniform of his/her school
- Each player’s surname and initial should be written on the score-sheet 30 minutes before the start of each game. The coach’s name should also appear in the space provided. Computerised score-sheets will be used wherever possible. The referee should tally and sign the scoresheet at the end of the game.
- Any team not ready to commence play when called upon, shall forfeit one point for every minute late, until 10 minutes has elapsed, at which point the game shall be declared a forfeit
- In the event of a player being fouled out of the game the coach has 30 seconds to replace the player before the game recommences (clock is stopped)
- If a player is injured during the game and the referee calls “time out”, the player must be replaced by the coach as soon as possible
Disputes Committee
- The Disputes Committee, which consists of a Chair plus two others, will hear disputes: The Chair is to be someone who is not involved with any of the teams. Membership is drawn from the following:
- Representative of the Host School
- Referees Coordinator for the Championship
- Representative of the AMSA Organising Committee
- A representative of each school in the dispute is to be available if required but they are not members of the Dispute Committee.
- The Disputes Committee’s decision is final.
