Drawing from the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal, this game features 5 questions per category with varying difficulty that tests your knowledge of Rizal’s history, influence, and writings. Don’t worry if you got it wrong, because each question comes with an explanation to widen your knowledge about Rizal. We hope that through this educational game, players are able to develop a wider perspective about Jose Rizal appreciate him more as our national hero.
1.) To help future teachers practice distinguishing factual historical information from common myths and assumptions about José Rizal, using a structured, evidence-based game format.
2.) To strengthen participants’ ability to evaluate and verify information, preparing them to later simplify and teach these skills to young learners.
3.) To encourage deeper engagement with Rizal’s life, works, and historical context by prompting participants to recall details, analyze sources, and challenge misconceptions.
4.) To demonstrate how interactive activities (e.g., Jeopardy-style game) can be used in classrooms to make fact-checking and critical thinking more accessible for early education students.
5.) To support future teachers in developing creative strategies for guiding children in recognizing reliable information and understanding Philippine history accurately.
Cognitive Skills
Recognition and Recall: Students will develop the ability to recognize and select correct factual information from a limited set of choices, testing their memory of specific names, dates, places, and events.
Analytical: Students will practice identifying and choosing the best explanation or analysis regarding the themes, purposes, and impacts of Rizal's various works.
Rizal’s Life and Works
Rizal's Early Years: Students will successfully identify key figures (family and teachers) and events that laid the foundations for Rizal's early life in the Philippines.
Rizal's Time in Europe: Students will accurately select information related to Rizal's academic pursuits, his involvement in the Propaganda Movement, and the European influences that deepened his commitment to reform.
Rizal's Novels: Students will demonstrate the ability to correctly match plot details, major characters, and central themes to the novels Noli Me Tángere and El Filibusterismo.
Rizal's Other Works: Students will be able to choose the correct thesis or purpose of Rizal's important essays and his historical scholarly contributions.
Rizal's Impact: Students will identify the circumstances of his trial, execution, and the long-term historical and legal significance of his martyrdom for the Philippines.
Overall Educational Goal
Knowledge Application: To encourage students to navigate and connect information across different periods of Rizal's life, demonstrating a holistic understanding of his journey from scholar to national hero.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Categories
The game is divided into 5 exciting categories.
Each category has 5 questions, with point values increasing from 100, 200, 300, 400, up to 500.
2. How to Play
• Pick any question from any category.
• Each question has one correct answer—choose wisely!
• The higher the points, the harder the question.
• When you answer correctly, you earn the points shown on the board.
• If you get it wrong… well, better luck on the next one!
3. Goal of the Game
Rack up as many points as you can by answering questions correctly.
The more points you collect, the better your chances of winning!
4. Final Jeopardy
After all questions are answered, get ready for the Final Jeopardy round!
