Chromebook Recommendations for Grades 6–8

Students in grades 6–8 use their Chromebooks every day at school. They do not bring these devices home. It is NOT a requirement to have a personal device, but here are some recommendations for those that are looking to purchase a device for home. 

Our school Chromebooks are primarily HP 11-inch Education Edition models, such as the HP Chromebook 11 G8 EE, or similar education-style Chromebooks. Families do not need to purchase this exact model.

When shopping for a Chromebook, we recommend looking for:

• Chromebook/ChromeOS device — not a Windows laptop

• 11–14 inch screen for easy portability

• 4 GB RAM minimum; 8 GB is even better if the price difference is reasonable

• 32 GB storage minimum; 64 GB is preferred

• A durable design that can withstand daily travel between home and school

• USB-C charging

• A protective case or sleeve is highly recommended

You do not need the most expensive Chromebook. A basic, current Chromebook from a reputable manufacturer such as HP, Lenovo, Dell, or Acer is generally more than sufficient for schoolwork.
