You will notice that policies that are updated due to COVID-19 changes are marked with a special “COVID Addendum” grey box so that you can easily find them.
This year’s Back to School Orientation will be structured differently than any other school year. The phased Orientation period is a critical piece of our School Re-Opening Roadmap as it will allow students to learn and adjust to the new COVID-19 school safety procedures, ensuring that everything is running smoothly and safely when we begin our first full days of school. We must also bear in mind that children have not been in an in-person school setting for six months. Re-acclimation to school will require a thoughtful and phased start. We thank you for your cooperation, understanding and support!
Students must wear uniforms on a daily basis to participate in school activities - whether they will be attending school in-person or remotely. Purchase enough uniform items so your child will be able to attend school in uniform code every day.
For the health and safety of our community, grade-level start and end times will be staggered in order to accommodate daily screening and reduce overcrowding. A link with a PDF of the staggered schedule is found at the end of this email. The drop-off schedule will begin on Wednesday morning at Brighton 6th Street and on Thursday morning for West End Avenue. Dismissal schedule will begin on the first day your child’s grade has a full-day of school. Please check their orientation schedule.
We understand the challenges facing parents in coordinating a staggered drop-off and dismissal schedule, but for the health and safety of our community, everyone must accommodate the set arrival and dismissal times, without exception. In the mornings, siblings will have to wait until their set grade level times. During dismissal in the afternoons, siblings can be picked up together.
If you find yourself in a bind, feel free to coordinate with other families, asking if your child can wait with another parent until their designated time. If you have children at both sites (Brighton 6th and West End Avenue) and are unsure as to which child to drop-off / pick up first, feel free to contact the school office at each location and they will advise you accordingly.
All parents/guardians and students are asked to wear masks at arrival and dismissal and maintain physical distance.
Parents have received an invitation to the MyMedBot application which you will use to complete daily health screenings for your child. Please remember to complete the daily screening form by 7:30 AM each morning. Your child will not be able to enter school without it completed. Information about how to access the app will be shared with you this week. Please lookout for it.
NOTE: Staggered Drop-off and Dismissal Times are subject to change once busing begins and/or if we see adjustments are necessary.
Please be patient. Expect delays during the first days of school. Things will not be perfect at first, considering all the different system-wide changes necessary to be able to be open in-person for our children. We are in this together. With time, things will go smoother. We appreciate your understanding!
