Society of Mayflower Descendants

In 1620 a group of 102 men, women and children sailed the Atlantic ocean from Plymouth, a port on the southern coast of England, on a  merchant ship called the Mayflower to start a new life. Some came seeking religious freedom and others came for the betterment of their personal situation and financial gain.

The General Society of Mayflower Descendants was founded in 1897 with 27 delegates meeting at Pilgrim Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Our Arkansas chapter, now one of the 54 Member Societies, was established in 1954.   

Our Society objectives include promoting the memory of our Pilgrim Fathers, maintaining the democratic principles of civil and religious liberty as set forth in the Mayflower Compact, and protecting and defending the ideals and institutions of American freedom.

Anyone 18 years of age, who can document their lineage showing they are a descendant of a listed passenger is eligible to apply for membership.

Our Arkansas chapter currently has 84 members. We typically meet twice a year in various locations around the state.
