Here's my face without a mask!!!
Hi! I'm Mrs. Horne! I have been an English teacher for Mayfield since 2004. I was very excited to move to Mayfield in 2016 so my daughters, Isabella and Aurora, could also attend this great district.
I'm a Google certified teacher, which is something I'm very proud of. I spend a lot of my free time reading and learning more about integrating technology to enhance education. While this year's format is not what I'd prefer (I want you every day!), I feel confident that we will fare just fine this year.
I have a bunch of interests. I am a complete theatre nerd so it is no surprise that I've directed our drama program on and off for over 10 years. I'm anxiously awaiting Broadway's reopening because I love going to NYC to see shows. Some of my favorite shows I've seen include Hamilton, Mean Girls, Rent, and Anastasia. I also enjoy reading. I was thrilled to have some time this summer to read for fun! My family is also obsessed with Marvel. We have watched all of the movies multiple times, and often marathon them in order. My daughter and I are also huge Harry Potter fans.
I've recently taking up running, which is completely ironic considering I have always said, "If you see me running, you should run too!" During the shut down I felt I needed to find something productive and active to do and, boy, was I terrible at it! I'm still not awesome but I'm pleased with my improvement. You are never too old to start new things!
I am terrible at all things mechanical. My brain has never done well understanding how to build things. My husband laughs at me when I try to put together something with instructions! It takes me twice as long as him to put something together because I can't inherently see how it would fit together. Unless you are talking about words. I'm pretty good at putting words together :) I'm also not very artistic. My drawings on the board are always entertaining!
I am an avid coffee drinker although I only drink decaf. I won't have coffee as much this year due to masks, but I'm known to always have a coffee in my hand (or ask my students where I left my coffee as I walk around the room!).
I'm looking forward to a fantastic year (whatever that might look like!).
