I have been in education technology for 27 years. I worked as the secretary to the District Technology Coordinator to pay my way through college, but as God's plan would have it, I ended up being offered the District Technology Coordinator's position, which later was retitled CIO (Chief Information Officer). I have loved every single minute of every challenge this position has put before me, because every step of the way I have worked with an amazing team that came together to make great things happen for our staff and students.
I love Mayfield Independent School District. I think our staff do their very best to meet our students where they are at and see them through to their full potential. I am so proud of how far tech has come in the last 27 years. We went from one internet connection at the Board Office and 5 computers that could access it, to an entire district wired for internet with "top of the line" equipment (thanks to e-rate) then labs in every school, then teacher workstations, phones on every desk, projectors, screens, clickers, and then to interactive flat panels and Chromebooks that took the place of many of those "ancillary" technologies! Also security cameras, door access controls and all the things. It has truly been an amazing journey! My goals would be to ensure that tech stays balanced, always up to date for the "efficiency" we need from it, and yet never let be the actual "teacher" in any form. I am all for it, to a point, but I believe we should never let it replace handwriting, coloring, scissors and glue, mathematical skills that come from quick recalling of math facts and the feel of a real book, turning real pages. I think that would be mistake on our part and a disservice to our kids.

I have 5 children (3 girls, 2 boys) and 7 grandchildren (2 girls and 5 boys). I love going to the lake, going to concerts (especially NKOTB), and traveling to new places.
