The health and safety of our students, staff and families remains a priority of all of us at the Mauston School District. We value being able to teach students in-person each and every day. We need your continued help, so please STAY SAFE to STAY OPEN.
4K - 5 students are attending in-person classes Monday through Friday in the traditional model. Knowing that a classroom setting may not be appropriate for all students under the current circumstances, families may elect a full-time virtual option for learning. For more information see Mauston's Virtual Program.
6-12 students attending in-person classes Monday through Friday in the traditional model. Knowing that a classroom setting may not be appropriate for all students under the current circumstances, families may elect a full-time virtual option for learning. For more information see Mauston's Virtual Program.
All students and staff are required to wear a face-covering on busses and in school. Mask requirements are in effect until further notice. If a medical provider has indicated your student should not wear a face-covering, please contact Mary O'Brien, Director of Pupil Services.
Knowledge of a positive COVID-19 case should be reported to your school office.
Sending a student to school who has exhibited COVID-19 symptoms in the last 24 hours places other students and staff members at risk of becoming ill. It also increases the likelihood that schools will have to temporarily close a classroom, wing, or buildings.
If any of the above symptoms are present, the student should NOT report to school.
Please contact your medical provider.
Please call your school office to report the absence. Schools will work with families to provide learning during extended absences.
District COVID-19 contact persons are responsible for informing and working with the Juneau County Health Department to identify the next steps and establish contact tracing efforts.

Q: Can families request medical exemption from wearing a face covering for their child?
A: The District will require documentation from a medical provider to allow students in buildings without a face covering. Please send all requests to the Director of Pupil Services, Mary O'Brien at mobrien@maustonschools.org
Q: Will the school provide a face covering?
A: If your student has a mask that they prefer to wear they are welcome to bring them. The School District of Mauston does have masks available in the case a student needs one.
Q: How do I know if I registered for virtual/online schooling or not?
A: If you completed the survey that said you wanted online learning this fall, you will receive a phone call from a staff member at your child's school to confirm your wish for online learning.
Q: Will virtual learning be the same as it was in the spring?
A: Mauston’s Virtual Learning Program will be a true virtual school learning experience. This will be how most students participate in online learning. Students will access their classwork online and work with the support of Mauston teachers 4K-5, and Mauston coaches 6-12. Students will have expectations for work completion each day. Families will receive a handbook with specific guidelines.
Q: Will the District require students to wear face coverings once the state order expires?
A: The District works with Juneau County Health to implement their safety recommendations.
