Abstract Painting - 20th Century Artists
is art made by indigenous Australian people. It includes work made in many different ways including painting on leaves, wood carving, rock carving, sculpting, ceremonial clothing and sand painting. Aboriginal art is closely linked to tribal ceremonies & hunting rituals.
Students will be introduced to aboriginal art and storytelling. Through class demos and instructional videos from our class website, students will create aboriginal art painting with Q-Tip's/pointillism. They can add additional symbols to their work to create an imaginary story. Storytelling and indigenous symbology. Lesson plan and supporting documents are on the website for download.

Students will be introduced to the art process of gel block printing through class demo. Students will explore leaf printing using gel block prints, leaves, speedball ink, crayons, and print rollers to make a work of art. Watercolor paint will be applied after the prints & rubbings dry. was a Dutch painter and theoretician who is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century and is known for painting geometric shapes, straight bold lines, and primary colors.
Students are introduced to the abstract art of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian in Art History. In the process, they learn important Geometry Vocabulary and mathematical skills. Students will see video and live demonstrations and then use masking tape on canvas board to square areas and paint sections to emulate the artist in their final work of art. was an American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. He was widely noticed for his technique of pouring or splashing liquid household paint onto a horizontal surface, enabling him to view and paint his canvases from all angles.
Students will be introduced to the expressive modern action drip art of Jackson Pollack in Art History. They will then work collaboratively in groups of 4 or 5 to create an abstract action painting using acrylic paint and the drip method. Each group will be assigned an emotion to convey through their choice of colors, brush strokes, and paint application. Groups will create their paintings on large sheets of canvas paper on the floor/or in a splatter box. Each group will present their paintings and explain how they conveyed the assigned emotion through their artistic choices. Color psychology in visual culture will be addressed. was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade, he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of which date from the last two years of his life
Students can use the roll and draw sheet and dice to roll for the vase design and the design of 3 flowers like Artist Van Gogh. Students could turn the sunflower into a wide variety of finished art projects with various media if they want too yet the focus will be on acrylic paint and oil pastel paint crayons. The show was designed by Massimiliano Siccardi, is adapted for each space it is exhibited in. The show tells van Gogh's story with a loose stream of consciousness, using large images and animations to demonstrate what "flashed before his eyes" before the artist died.

Students will view art history videos of POP Art and portraits in that style. Using a foam printing plate, students will create abstract line drawing of their face. Incorporating the use of primary & secondary colors most used in “POP” art students will make prints from their foam plate drawings to expand upon their skills.
