Picasso Self-Portrait Dice Game Painting

This art project has been designed to make drawing a cubist Picasso like self-portrait faces easy with a printable dice game drawing guide & worksheet. Please watch all videos and read lesson plan below.

Objective/I can:

Keith Haring - American Painter-1958 - 1990

Keith Haring graduated from Kutztown Area Senior High School in 1976 and spent some time traveling across America before studying at the Art Centre in Pittsburgh. In the summer of 1980 he took up drawing, inventing intricate cartoon-style murals of mutant. Figures locked in hyper physical engagement. Keith Haring was commissioned to paint murals all over the world. 

Students are introduced to the cartoon art of Keith Haring. Students watch as teacher demonstrates how to draw the Figures. Students are given a step by step handout for reference. See example of handout on left. Students will practice figures drawing to create a dancer with primary/complementary colors.

Elmer The Elephant -Drawing/Painting 

Objective/I can:

• ● Look at different images of elephants and draw an elephant step-by-step.

• ● Decorate an elephant like Elmer using Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Pattern

• ● Explore mixing of colours to make new ones with tempera paint.

• ● Discuss why Elmer didn't want to be different. Why is it OK to be different from other people?

In this lesson we will be drawing cityscapes! If a landscape is a picture of the land.. What do you think a cityscape is a picture of?... that's right, a CITY! Except our cities will have a twist. All of our buildings will have silly faces. Be CREATIVE! You can add whatever kind of faces you want. I will include some idea sheets for faces but I know that YOU can come up with fantastic faces. The videos below will introduce you to the famous Pop Artist James Rizzi and the lesson steps.

Turkey In Disguise 

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, turkeys everywhere are scrambling for a disguise. Students will learn about turkeys and create a  costume to hide their turkey! Have fun & be creative! Use any supplies you want.
