Students come to school to learn, but sometimes there are barriers preventing them from being their best selves while they are here. Sometimes students struggle in school, either academically, socially, or emotionally, and it helps to talk about it with someone outside of their classroom that is trained to help them process the difficulty and utilize effective problem solving techniques for the situation. These students are invited to participate in short-term solution focused individual counseling.
All counseling is confidential. It is a service provided for the students and does not become a part of their school records. State law mandates that all school personnel report suspected child abuse/neglect or threats of harm to oneself or others. These are the only exceptions to confidentiality. Progress from individual school counseling may be shared with the child’s teacher and parents/guardians as needed and in general terms.
