Warning signs of being bullied:
* Comes home from school with damaged items
* Has cuts, bruises, scratches
* Has few, if any, friends to play with
* Seems afraid to go to school, complains of
* Headaches, stomach pains, etc.
* Doesn’t sleep well, has bad dreams
* Loses interest in school work
* Seems sad, depressed or moody
If your child shows several of these warning signs, it’s possible he/she is being bullied. Talk with your child & schedule a conference with school staff to discuss your concerns.
What you can do:
* Help your child develop talents & positive self-esteem
* Encourage your child to make contact with friendly student(s) in their classes
* Encourage your child to get to know peers in new situations
What doesn’t work:
* Ignoring the problem
* Blaming your child for provoking bullying
* Telling the child to “hit back”
