For Faculty
Graders for the Department of Mathematics
Currently, the department supports grader positions for 300- and 400-level MATH and DATA courses taught by members of the faculty, and with enrollment of at least 15 students. The pay rate is $14.50 per hour and up to 6 hours of grading per week may be allotted to each course section (additional hours of grading may be available to CUEB courses).
Graders should have previously taken the course they are grading for and received an A. Graders are selected and supervised by the faculty teaching the course, and are hired by the department.
How to Request a Grader
If you know a student you would like to hire as a grader, please make arrangements with them and fill out the Grader Request Form. The Program Coordinator will reach out to you and the student and confirm the number of hours available for grading.
If you do not already have a student in mind, please contact the Program Coordinator. They will share with you the name and qualifications of students who have applied to serve as graders.
Graduate students teaching 300-level courses do not qualify for grader support since grading is part of their responsibilities as TAs.
Responsibilities and Training
Instructors are expected to meet with their grader on a regular basis and provide appropriate feedback and mentoring.
Instructors must contact the Program Coordinator if their grader performs below par or does not require all of the hours that were allotted for grading.
Instructors are expected to take the Mentor Institute Online Training before requesting a grader. Please log into edge learning and search for MENTOR Institute Online Training. Register and take the 1-hour training.
At the end of the semester, instructors will be asked to provide feedback on the performance of their grader.
How to Recommend a Student Interested in Serving as a Grader
If a student asked you to submit a recommendation so that they can serve as graders for a course you taught before, please fill out the Grader Recommendation Form.
