Meet Miss Bassett!

My name is Sarah Bassett (pronounced “bass-it” like a basset hound) and I am so excited to be your first-grade teacher at Mater Christi this year! First-grade is magical and exciting, and I fell in love with it when student teaching. I love being a teacher and sharing my love of learning with my students.

I am from Newton, Massachusetts, which is right outside the city of Boston. I moved to Vermont for college and I love living here. I have been teaching and working with young children in varying capacities for ten years. Before MCS I student taught in a first-grade classroom in South Burlington and a second-grade classroom in Williston. I was also a toddler and preschool teacher at the YMCA and have taught dance in both MA and VT. I graduated from the University of Vermont with my degree and license in Early Childhood and Special Education, and I feel so lucky to have landed at MCS!

Outside of teaching, I enjoy pilates, dance, yoga, reading, and spending time with friends. While at UVM, I was the co-president of one of the dance companies. You will find me after school teaching dance at some local studios, and in the summer I teach at an overnight dance training program for girls. I also love to be outside and enjoy Vermont's natural beauty all year round.
